Frequently Asked Questions

What does LEP stand for?
LEP stands for the League of Extraordinary Parents, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families and improving educational outcomes through backward-design parenting, educational advocacy, and community leadership.
What is backward-design parenting?
Backward-design parenting—also called the Life Template™—is about starting with where you want your child to be in the future, then working backward to figure out what they need to learn and do today. Instead of just reacting to what comes up—whether it's school assignments, social challenges, or life decisions—you're being proactive and intentionally planning for your child's success in academics, relationships, and life.
Who is LEP for?
LEP is for any adult who cares about a child's future—parents, guardians, aunts, uncles, grandparents, teachers, counselors, and school leaders. We work with families from conception through college to provide practical tools and coaching. We also partner with educators and schools to help them better support students and families.
What programs does LEP offer?
LEP offers a range of evidence-based programs tailored to different audiences. For parents and families, we provide life planning and backward-design coaching, academic advocacy strategies, community-building systems, and the Empowered to Read, Ready to Lead family literacy initiative for grades K-3. For students, we offer programs focused on holistic success, personalized life planning, leadership and civic engagement, and academic navigation. For educators and communities, we host workshops like Extraordinary College Planning.
How does LEP help reduce educational inequality?
We level the playing field by giving every family-regardless of income or background-evidence-based backward-design planning tools, academic advocacy coaching, and community support. Through programs like Empowered to Read and our life-planning initiatives, we help parents build the confidence and knowledge to navigate schools, advocate for their children, and chart pathways to opportunity.
How much do LEP programs cost?
LEP's pricing varies depending on the program, your needs and goals, and available funding. Some programs are grant-funded or supported by donations, which significantly reduces costs to families. We work with families, schools, and organizations to customize solutions that fit your situation. After you complete our intake form, we meet with you to understand your goals and discuss program options, pricing, and any financial support available. We're committed to making our tools accessible-if cost is a barrier, let's talk about it.
